Lots of people are looking to apply fewer harmful chemicals in their yards and I am in the same boat. I know I apply chemicals for a living, however, I also believe that the fewer chemicals we can ALL apply, the more responsible we become. We all have to share this planet and every little bit helps. By eliminating just ONE harmful chemical we can make a difference.
Many of you are doing your best to help but it’s hard to find organic solutions that actually work. I’m going to do my best to give you all real, viable solutions for gardening and lawn care issues. I will TRY and review at least ONE organic solution each month. I will purchase, apply and monitor results of each product in MY OWN YARD. I will then write a review of findings that you can all read and then use at your own homes. I will be as honest as possible regarding the results I have found at my own home.

May Application and Review:
I received this product in May from I Must Garden. I applied it, following all the directions, which, by the way, were totally easy to read and understand. The ease of use of this product was the best of any organic I have yet to use. Shake well, attach hose and apply. Easy.
Right away I noticed the smell of the product. It had a lovely citrus/citronella odor that I found very pleasing. Certainly not what I am used to applying! I applied a light coat to the entire fenced in area that my 3 small dogs occupy. The total fenced in area is approximately 48′ long X 35″ deep, for a total of 1680 sq ft, give or take a few. I applied this product to shrubbery, flowers, turf and beds, even under our deck as we have an access point for our dogs to be able to get under the deck for shelter. Our dogs are primarily inside dogs, but they do like to spend the summer day time hours outside chasing birds and squirrels. I used the entire bottle treating my yard one time.
This product was super easy to apply, smelled great, no long re-entry time for people or pets. I just found it very easy to use, so they get a gold star on that note.
The fleas had just started being noticed the week prior to me applying this, so I knew we had SOME in the back yard. Generally, when I start noticing them, I hit them with a pesticide specifically labeled for fleas so they never get “out of control”. I chose to apply this organic remedy instead.
Within the first day or two after application I was not seeing ANY fleas on any of the dogs. It appeared to knock them down very fast. The flea population was controlled very quickly. I was pleased to see the results so fast. However 9 days after I applied I began to see ticks. Not a bunch, just two, but to me, that is two too many. I resisted the urge to reapply another chemical and just let things be.
Up to now, (June 20) those were THE ONLY two ticks I have seen. Because we do feed birds and squirrels in our yard they bring in ticks and fleas…so I expected to find SOME.
The most noticeable thing though was fly control. We have a barn with horses in close proximity to our fenced in yard and usually the flies near our deck are horrible. This stuff really kept the flies at bay! The flies here are usually much worse than fleas, ticks or mosquitoes combined, so this was a HUGE benefit for us, right off the bat! If you have a fly problem, this stuff is worth its weight in gold!
The directions on the bottle say to reapply every 3-4 weeks to maintain control. It has been 4 weeks since I applied. I am just now starting to notice a few fleas here and there. I have yet to see another tick and the flies and mosquitoes are non-existent. I would have to say all in all I am VERY pleased with the results of this product. It controlled the fleas and flies almost immediately, and as stated, it lasted 4 weeks, even with the rain we have had. It is much cheaper than the Liquid Fence products, smells great, is easy to use and actually works. It is made with all natural ingredients, it’s earth, pet and people friendly, what more could you want??
I will be ordering more of this product. Thus far, for the price, it is a really great product! I Must Garden is located in North Carolina too, so to have them so close is another perk. The shipping time is awesome. Great Product overall! **** Four Stars from me!
